New Front Door Decor

My New Front Door Decor...

I decided it was time for a change on my front door.

A change from my typical wreath that I always have.

I was at Michael's the other day and I saw that they had these wooden frames on sale.  I've always wanted to do something like this, but I never found anything that I really liked....until now.

I went ahead and snatched up the frame and went in search for something to put in the middle of it.

I then stumbled upon this cross to put in the middle and it was on sale for 99 cents!  Score!

So I brought everything home and got to work this past weekend.

I also bought some paint from Wal-Mart and got started...

I really love this color of blue.  It reminds me of the beach and it's even brighter in person.

I also love this orange-ish, melon color too.  I would really love to have a kitchen this color.  I think it's so pretty!

And here's the finished product...

My genius husband thought of the idea to use fishing line to tie the cross on to the frame.  I already had the yellow ribbon and thought that it would be a another fun color to add to the scheme.  All together this little project cost me around $8.  Not too bad if you ask me!

Hope you enjoyed it!  I know I'm going to enjoy my new decor this Summer!

A Little Bit of Life

It's been quite some time since I've posted.

Life has been pretty hectic lately.  Always something on weeknights and weekends.  Life is starting to slow down a bit so I thought I'd catch you up on what we've been doing...

We were up to a lot of basketball in the middle of Jon's semester...

He played on one of the school's intramural teams and he did great!  Unfortunately, his team came in 2nd overall...but I thought that was still really good.  We also got to watch some of our friends from small group play in the women's intramural team too!

Cooking has also become a new hobby for my husband.  If you ever need someone to help you peel potatoes, my husband is the man to do it!
We signed up to make a kid-friendly dish to church for a pot-luck and I signed up for mashed potatoes.  I was at work all day and Jon decided to make the potatoes himself...

Three pots of peeled potatoes is A LOT of potatoes!!  I was one proud wife though!

We've also had fun times with friends...

We had a women's night at church that I went to with Mary Ann and Amanda.  Jon and I have been going to the lake a lot more with the beautiful weather!  We also had a fun game night with Chad and Jodi too!  Jon finally got the courage to hold their little boy, Brayden.  When he held him he said, "You just hold him like a loaf of bread!"  It was hilarious!  Jodi has also turned into super mom!  Would you look at her technique of holding her baby, the bottle, and her playing cards...soo funny!  We also had our second Easter family dinner with Chad and Jodi.  We had two big meals on Easter, but they were both delicious!

We've also had family come visit recently...

My parent's came the week before Easter.  We went to The Cheesecake Factory, shopped, played a lot of Rook, and I even brought them to work with me one day.  I'm so thankful that they came to work with me the day that they did...I couldn't have imagined doing what I did by myself.  It was fun, but I needed a lot of help and I'm so thankful that they were there. I think they had fun...I know we did!  And thanks again for buying us a humongous Easter ham!  It was glorious!  However, I am sad that we didn't take them back to Goodberry's again.

The weekend after my parents came, Jon's parents and his Ma came to visit us.

We had an Easter Egg hunt thanks to Ma (because you're never too old for them), ate yummy food, went shopping in downtown Wake Forest, and got spanked by Ma in every game that we played.  It never fails when we play games with her....she always wins!!  Always.

Oh, and I made my sweet MIL try on some ridiculous shoes while we were shopping.  I know the picture looks a little funny, but I just had to put it on there.  I also cooked dinner for everyone and Ma used two spoons for dessert.  And she also traveled over 300 miles to iron my coffee table for me.  Hahaha!  (I had some heat stains on my coffee table and we found out that you could iron them out....it ended up looking almost new again!)  We also found the cutest clock while shopping.  So cute and so me!

We had such a great time with our families coming to visit.  It's always nice when the people you love the most come and visit you.

Now if only we could get our sisters out here!  (hint, hint, hint!!!)  :)

Other things that I foundfrom my picture library on my phone are pictures of food (duh!) and fun projects!

I made a new Spring/Summer wreath for our front door that I put up right at the beginning of March. I know my neighbors thought I was crazy. It's burlap with ribbon and flowers.
I also made some insane brownies for some friends birthdays. Oreo stuffed Blondie brownies with chocolate chips. They were out of this world delicious! I also had my honey and his dad make me a shelf over my washer and dryer for more storage. I found the idea on Pinterest and it is absolutely marvelous! I love it so much and it's just a couple of brackets and a piece of wood. It's amazing what a huge difference it makes. I also got to eat at a premier steak house here in Raleigh...the Angus Barn. The food was phenomenal. I know I acted just like my Nana would have if she would have eaten there. Every bite was the best I'd ever had in my life. I'm hoping we can got there for our anniversary! :) Lastly, I decided to add a few more pictures from the beach to my "beach bathroom". I took some wire and small clothespins and draped them from my mirrors. I felt like it turned out pretty cute and it allowed me to show off more of my fun pictures that I love.

That's a lot of what's been going on with us lately.  I did get to go on a wonderful Women's Retreat with my church, but that will have to have it's own post.  Life is going well right now and we're very thankful how the Lord continues to provide and bless us!

I'll try to keep this place a little more updated since life seems to be slowing down hopefully.  Only 3 more weeks of Jon's school left and then he's taking a break from it for the Summer.  Hopefully this Summer will have lots of house guests and cook-outs with friends!

Come see us soon!!  I'll make you some cinnamon rolls or anything else that you want!

Lately

It's been awhile since I've posted.

Here's what has been going on lately...

I've been spending a lot of time with one of my best friends, Jodi, and her newborn baby, Brayden!

He is so precious and I love getting to spend time with them.

I'll go across on this picture above...
1.  We had a Sock Hop at work!  I wore a poodle skirt and polka dot head band.  I danced like a fool and had a blast!  Preacher Man would have been embarrassed.
2.  I made this sign from Pinterest and put it in the bathroom at work.
3.  This is what I come home to on Fridays a lot....you can't tell, but my sweetie has all of the lights off and he's laying down in the floor playing a video game.  Hooray for that feeling of getting off of work on Fridays!
4.  The red head in the corner...her name is Amanda, and she introduced me to the most amazing vanilla latte in the world.  It is pictured to the right of her.
6.  I dream of that latte often.  It was out of this world amazing at a coffee shop called Jubala.
5.  We made cute little "Love" signs at work with painters tape and red and pink paint.  They turned out pretty cute.  Too bad you can't really see the entire thing.
6.  We tried out a new restaurant in town called Main Street Grille.  It's delicious!  This is Jon's biscuits and gravy.  He was in heaven!

Here's the next set....this should really be like five blog posts, but I'm doing it all in one since it's been forever...

1.  We hosted our Small Group's Super Bowl Party and we had a blast!  We almost had 20 people in our little place.  The first picture on the top left are my mini taco bowls that I made.
2.  Of course I made a game up for everyone to play!  We all predicted the halftime score predictions and whoever came the closest got a prize!
3.  I made my first ever peanut butter sheet cake with chocolate chips.  Glorious!
4.  This is just a small glimpse of the food we had.  It was a delicious evening if I do say so myself!

Valentine's Day is next...

1.  We got a surprise package in the mail from Preacher Man's parents!  So sweet!  We definitely enjoyed the Olive Garden gift card and goodies!  Yum!  Thank you, again!
2.  Surprise!  we said we weren't getting each other anything, but we both did.  My man came home with a pink hydrangea plant and Oreos....my favorite.  Have you tried the Mega Stuff Oreos yet?  They are life changing!  I repeat, life changing!
3.  I made our annual heart-shaped cake!  This year it was a heart-shaped blondie brownie with chocolate chips.  And it was mmmm, mmmmm good!  :)

We got a blizzard here last weekend....or at least everyone here acted like we did.

1.  Me and Preacher Man were the two crazies that went out in the snow to buy none other than a potting plant and dirt.  Who does that on a snowy day?  We do!
2.  A picture of our place in the snow.
3.  We threw a bowl out back to try and catch snow to make snow cream.  We waited too long to make it though because all of the snow melted later that afternoon.

It's been a pretty good month!  We're looking forward to March!

Have a Super Saturday!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

January and February are two busy months in my family!  We have a lot of birthdays!  Today is my Mom's birthday!  Happy Birthday, Mom!

My Mom is a fun lady.  She makes us all laugh a lot!  I think I get my goofiness from her!  For that I am very thankful!  I'm so blessed to have a Mom ( & Dad, too!) that have always been there for me to help me whenever I need it.  Whether it was an ear to listen to my problems and give me advice, or money for whatever I needed, I knew that I could always count on them.  They would both give me the shirt off of their back if I was ever in need.  I really have some amazing parents!

I'm also thankful for the relationship that Debbie Kay and I have.  I call her Debbie Kay often.  Mostly when we are out in public because I feel like she hears me better instead of calling her Mom.  Haha!  I'm glad she goes along with it too!  We have fun with it!  I'm glad that I have the relationship with my Mom where I can tell her anything.  I always feel like I can go to her with any problem that I'm having.  She is one of the hardest people for me to keep a secret from because I always tell her what's going on in my life.  I'm also thankful that she's taken my husband in as one of her own.  I feel like he is loved just like me and my sister are and for that I am so grateful.  Now he's the one that gets a peach cobbler made specifically for him every time we come home.  Hello!

My Mom is also talented.  She is the best piano player that I know.  And she's pretty good at directing choirs even if me, my sister, and Hailey made fun of her on this one song where she had to wave her arms in the air so fast.

If I lived closer to my parents, tonight I would have invited them over for dinner.  I would have made something delicious for my Mom.  Maybe tacos...or chicken cordon blue....or even pinto beans, turnip greens, potatoes, and cornbread!  I'd finish the night off with an Italian Cream Cake too!  She loves those! Maybe one day I'll live close enough to where I can do this.

Happy Birthday to you, Mom!  I love you so much and am so thankful for everything that you have done for me.  You are the best!

Lots of Love,
Your Daughter :)

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is a very special day!

Today is my Dad's Birthday!

I only wish that we lived closer right now so I could have invited him over to mine and Jon's house to eat a delicious birthday dinner.  I would have fixed homemade chicken enchiladas, chicken fajitas, or tacos.  I would have even made guacamole and gotten some chips and salsa, too!  And I might have even sprung for some cheese dip!

And most importantly he would have gotten to eat off of my special, red birthday plate.

Maybe we'll have a birthday dinner when he and the fam come in March!

And then I can take you to Goodberry's like you ate the last time you were here.

That was exciting and I'm still in shock that you ate it!  Even though it was sugar free and all!

I'm so thankful for my Dad and the relationship that we have.  It's nice to know that he is more than just a Dad, but he's one of my best friends, too.  I always know that I can count on him for anything in life....even if it means that he and my family drive over 800 miles in one day to help me and Jon move into our first place together.  He's the easiest and one of my most favorite people to talk to on the phone (and in person, too....we just have to talk on the phone a lot since we live far away from one another).  We always have the best phone conversations that make me smile!

I'm grateful for everything that he's done for me in my life.  I'm thankful that he and my Mom raised my sister and I up in church and always pointed us to the Lord.

And I might get in trouble for doing this, but would you look how precious this picture is below?

It's my dad and his dad.  I never got to meet my grand-dad, but I'm sure if he was anything like my Dad he was a fantastic man!

I only wish I could give my Dad a big hug on his special day...I know that I'll get too soon enough!

I hope today has been a great day, Dad!  I love you!

Front Porch Beauties

Preacher Man and I got these beauties for our front porch for Christmas thanks to his parents!  (Thank you again!)
(Here's the picture of them, Mom)

:)

We can't wait to throughly enjoy them when the weather gets warmer!

If you're reading this, you should come on over and visit so you can rock on my front porch.  I'd even make you some coffee or lemonade.

Eventually I'll get around to documenting our trip home for Christmas...maybe I'll get it done by Spring.  Ha!

Hope you have a Happy Sunday!

Happy Birthday!

To my sister...

I hope you've had a marvelous day!  I wish I could have spent it with you!  We would have done something special and ended the day with a delicious meal and that one thousand layer cake that I'm going to make you the next time you come to visit!

I love and miss you bunches!  Thanks for being the best big sister ever!
