White Trash

I got in the mood to make some white trash before we went home for Christmas.  For those of you that don't know what white trash is, it's a bunch of different cereals, candies, and nuts mixed together with white almond bark.  It's quite delicious.  I'm not sure where the name came from, but whatever you want to call this stuff, it's good!

I'd never made this before, so I decided to make up my own recipe and I enlisted the help of this guy...

My sweet husband likes to help me in the kitchen and eat the leftovers! Haha!  I think that's why he likes to help!

Here's my recipe that I made up for my white trash:
1 1/2 blocks of white almond bark
3 cups rice chex
3 cups corn chex
2 cups pretzel sticks
1 bag of m&m's (the larger bag that you find in the candy aisle)
3/4 cup cocktail peanuts
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Christmas sprinkles

First, I melted the white almond bark in the microwave.  In a separate bowl, I combined all of my other ingredients except for the m&m's, chocolate chips, and sprinkles.  Once the almond bark was melted, I stirred it into my other ingredients.  Once everything was coated, I ever so gingerly added in the m&m's and the chocolate chips.  I gave them a gentle stir and poured the mixture onto cookie sheets lined with aluminum foil.  I then spread the mixture as evenly as possible and then sprinkled some happy Christmas sprinkles on top.  I let the trash cool for a couple of hours and then broke it into smaller pieces.  It's very tasty even though it looks like a bunch of stuff thrown together on a cookie sheet.  That must be how it got its name!

Here's the finished product...

I know that I'll be glad that I typed this recipe out when I start looking for it next year.  Give it a try,,,,you might like it as much as I do!

Hope you enjoy,
Katie
