Christmas Time is Here...and then it came and went! :)

My Mom keeps on asking me when I'm going to put pictures up of our place decorated for Christmas.

And now Christmas has come and gone.  :(

And here I am writing about it after the fact.

I started this post a while back before Christmas but never got around to putting up pictures of our place for the family to see.

I really think my Mom (who asked for this the most) should just come visit with the rest of the family, but seeing as how that's not on the schedule this season this will have to do.

So without rambling on,

Dear Mom,

Here are the pictures!  :)

Here are some pretty red and white tulips I had in my kitchen...

and a different angle of them...

Here is our tree mid way December....

The tree topper on our tree is what Preacher Man used to propose to me.  It will be the tree topper for FOREVER!  :)  It's kinda special.  :)

Here's my festive window treatment...

You can still see the snowman pillow in the picture even though I turned off the lights.  :)

And here's our tree before we left to go home...

They all got wrapped and loaded!  FINALLY!  :)

Here is a fun new ornament that we got from our precious friends Chad and Jodi.
They are our family away from family.  :)

If you can't tell in the picture it says Jodi, Chad, Jon, and Katie on the ornaments.
Sooo cute and sooo thoughtful!
Thanks again, friends!  We love you!

Moving on to the tour...

Here is our side table with Santa's shoe...

And here's the tree that I put on the coffee table...

And Mom.....look at that snowman with the fish!  :)

I put Jon's picture beside it just for you!  :)

(Mom gave us the snowman holding a fish at Thanksgiving!)  :)

Here's our shelf...

I really just took this picture for my cool platter that says "Christmas Calories Don't Count"!
Hahaha!  If only that were true!

And here's our staircase complete with garland and stockings...

And I just remembered that I forgot to take a picture of my Kitchen table and Kitchen tree.  Sorry, Mom!  I had a cute cupcake tree in the kitchen and on my table I had a cute cake plate with a candle on it and precious snowman place mats.

Are you seeing all of this in your head?!

I know you are!  :)

So there you have it!

A Christmas Tour of Chateu J & K!

Hope you enjoyed!

A Minor Mishap

First off, Happy Birthday to my wonderful Nana!!  I love you so much and hope that you have a wonderful day!

We had a minor mishap in the house today.

Just a small one you'd say.

Take a look below:

You know that glorious stuff they call "puppy chow"?

That stuff with chocolate, peanut butter, and chex mix all coated with powdered sugar?

Yes, that glorious stuff!  :)

Well we had a minor mishap in making it today.

You see we are going to Preacher Man's Work Christmas Party tonight and I thought it would be nice to make everyone a small treat.  So we went to Wal-Mart this afternoon to grab the supplies, along with some other stuff, and rushed home to get it made in time for the party.

We got the chocolate and peanut butter melted and we were ready to coat the chex mix.

Every time I have ever made the yummy puppy chow I have always used a trash bag to make it.

Well this time we used a trash bag.  I insisted that everything would be find when my honey asked me if it would be okay.  I had him talked into thinking that everything would be fine.

Just fine.

Fine, I said.

I've done this a bunch of times!

So he volunteered to shake the bag and I poured the chocolate.

And this happened on the first shake:

See all that chocolate goodness?

I wanted to cry.

I got a little mad at myself.

I tried to save it.

So I told the hubby to grab the Hefty bags because they were hefty and we were going to get this job done.  (I don't know what i was thinking since more than half of my chocolate was on the kitchen floor...I was just determined.)

Welllllllllllll this is what happened with Hefty:

Not so hefty.  Or maybe my chocolate was too hot?!  Ya think?
(You can see how much of a hurry we were in if you look at the counter...we didn't even unload our groceries....we had to get this made and get it made fast!)

We did manage to save some of the chex mix with some of the chocolate.

But as for now we have this on our floor:

And we're going to the party empty handed, with no puppy chow to give.

And my husband decides to eat puppy chow off the floor.

Luckily he mopped the kitchen last night.  And I reckon we'll be mopping again late tonight after the party.

And don't say anything about his style and outfit of choice.  That's why I married him.  :)

I'm happy we have a sense of humor.  Maybe I'll get my puppy chow made sometime.

As for now we're off to eat with our friends and then to the party....

Until next time,

Wreaths--Glorious Wreaths!

So I've been into wreaths lately.

Like a lot.

I think I've found a fun, creative outlet for myself that I really enjoy.

As promised, here are some close-ups of the wreaths that I had in the Craft & Bake Sale...I'll post if they are sold underneath them in case you're interested in buying.  And if you are interested in buying one or would like one that is similar to one you see, please let me know!  :)

Some people like the ribbon on the wreaths where you can tie them from your wreath hanger, and some people don't.  I like it tied in a pretty bow, but others might like to hang the wreath just on the wreath hanger.  :)

I'm working on some other cute wreaths that I'll have to post pictures of soon...
AND some other fun Christmas crafts for the Grandmothers...Louise and Rowena!  :)

J & K's Sweet Eats & Delicious Treats

Craft & Bake Sales.

Ahhh....they're not as easy as they look.

Nope, not at all.

I can now cross of something on the bucket list.

That something was to participate in a craft and bake sale one day.

The Seminary had a C & B Sale for all of the seminary wives or lady students to participate in to make a little extra cash for the holidays.

Here's how the story goes:

Preparation for Craft & Bake Sale:

Lots of long, hard work on making and planning what the booth was going to be.
Decided to sell hand-made wreaths, fresh caramel apples using the fun apple corer that my Dad let us borrow...annnnnnnd we also sold petros.
Several trips to Wal-Mart, JoAnn's, and Michael's (no Hobby Lobby around here makes for sad times when shopping for crafts!).
Lots of hours spent making wreaths.
Dipped Caramel Apples for pre-packaged caramel apples.
Caramel dripped off of caramel apples.
Apples were put in freezer to make caramel stay.
Caramel stuck to apples because of the genius idea to put apples in freezer.
Caramel dripped off in bags once they were room temperature.
Blob of caramel in bags of pre-packaged caramel apples.
Make chili.
Humongous pot of chili.
Probably 10-15 gallons of chili.
Don't want to eat chili for a while.
Eww, chili.
Make Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bars.
House smells good b/c of Pumpkin Choc.Chip Bars.
Wait until the morning of to stuff bags with choc.chip pumpkin bars.
Figure out how much we should charge for all of this stuff so we don't give it away for free.
Go to bed and try to get sleep.

Morning of Craft & Bake Sale:

Wake up at 6AM.
Wake up husband as well.
Tell husband how much you love him for getting up early and helping you.
Get dressed for the day.
Pack up half the things in my house to take the the C&B Sale.
Hubby loads car for the day.
Realize that it wasn't a good idea to wait until morning to stuff the bags with the pumpkin chocolate chip bars.
Feel stupid because I chose some awful bags to pack our bars in.
Want to say un-Christian things.
Refrained from saying un-Christian things.
Left house at 7 AM ish.
Go to work to blow up balloons.
Get sausage biscuits and big 'ol sweet tea from Bojangles.
Put make-up on in car.
Arrive at Campus where the C&B Sale was held.
Realize that we can't park in the door.
Park in a parking lot far away from door.
Unload car.
Walk to gym.
Realize I didn't dress warm enough.
Huff and puff up the stairs with what feels like 1,000 pounds of junk to sell.
Arrive at booth.
Hubby finishes unloading.
Set up table with goodies.
Hubby leaves.
Tell hubby I owe him big for all of his help.

Craft & Bake Sale Starts:
Here is our booth:

and here are the wreaths:

9 AM
No customers.
9:30 AM
No customers.
Not understanding why no one wants a caramel apple for breakfast!?!
Prospects look at wreaths.
Prospects walk away.
Want to start slashing prices because they aren't buying my wreaths.
People tell us how cute and pretty our booth is.
9:45 AM
Still no sales.
The people who had the booth beside us bought two bottles of water!
Woot.  We sold something!
People tell us how cute and pretty our booth is.
Time keeps on going.
Lunch time is starting to roll around.
Chili starts selling.
Sell first wreath.
Feel like a rock star because I sold a wreath.
I didn't even think it was the cutest one.
People tell us how cute and pretty our booth is.
More people look at wreaths.
More people walk away from wreaths.
First price slash of wreaths.
People tell us how cute and pretty our booth is.
Sell caramel apples.
People are fascinated by apple peeler and the concept of fresh apples.
People tell us how cute and pretty our booth is.
Many people taste samples of pumpkin chocolate chip cookie bars off of our sample tray.
Some people buy.
Some people shake their head.
I think those that don't buy want to vomit in their mouth b/c they are bad or something.
People tell us how cute and pretty our booth is.
Feet start to hurt.
Shouldn't have worn flats.
Walk around and look at other booths.
Buy homemade salsa and bows for niece.
Come back to booth.
Sale is dwindling down.
Start packing up.
Slash prices on wreaths.
One girl offers me $8 for a wreath.
I politely told her that I had more than $8 in the wreath.
I am screaming in my head as she walks away.
Walk around with packaged caramel apples where the caramel is blobbed together in the bottom of the bag and try to sell them to other vendors for $1.
Sell three caramel apples.
Finish packing stuff up.
Call hubby to come get me.
Haul junk to car.
Feel like a failure.
Come home.
Unload junk.
House becomes an even bigger disaster.
Fall on couch.
Feet feel horrendously awful for wearing the wrong shoes.
Realize that flats really weren't a good idea no mater how cute they were.
Hubby heats up food for me and feeds me on the couch.
Hubby then tells me that we are going to go help Andrew move.
Sit on couch for about 45 minutes.
Put on tennis shoes to go help pack.
Take a mini nap in car.
Arrive at Andrew's.
Start packing.
9 PM.
Andrew's parents arrive.
Everyone is hungry.
Judy and I go to Chick-fil-A.
Boys keep packing.
Eat Chick-fil-A.
Hug bye, try not to cry, and go home.
10 or 11PM
Arrive at home.
Pass out from exhaustion.
Long day.
Lots of lessons.
Glad it was over.
Glad I did it.
Not sure if it'll happen again.

Here's a picture of me and my partner in the sale...Jodi!

Girls....look over here!

Much better!!  :)

Even better.  :)

And yes, we're still friends after the C&B Sale.  Ha!  The motto from the sale you might ask for me?  Live and learn.  Live and learn!  Hahaha!

If you're ever in the market to do a craft and bake sale, I'd love to talk to you!

We really did have fun.  I really did get frustrated.  I really did cry a few times over it.  But I'm still glad I did it.  It definitely was an experience I'll never forget.

I'll post pictures later of all of the wreaths individually.

I still just might have some for sale!  ;)
Only a few of them though!

And I haven't forgotten to post pictures of my Winter Wonderland at the house.  I will try to do it before the end of this week!  :)

Still having a hard time believing it is December,

It's Commmiiinnngggg!

I'm so excited about Thanksgiving!  It's coming soooo soon!  I know this post isn't the one that you might have been hoping know, the after picture that I was supposed to post from this past weekend of all of my Christmas decorations at our house.  Well, the Christmas wonderfulness isn't all the way everyone is going to have to be patient for thos pictures.  I know you're just itching to see them!  :)

I got this picture on my phone the other day and I was so excited to see it:

This is my Dad.  He's hunting out west this week!  Isn't he just precious?!  Love you, Dad!

Did I mention I was excited for Thanksgiving?  In the midst of my Christmas decorating craziness this past weekend, I totally forgot to mention that I truly am excited for Thanksgiving to come...and it's commmmmming so soon!!!

Reasons why I'm excited:
A whole 5 days in the state of Tennessee.

A bunch of yummy, yummy food!

Seeing all of our family!

The 4th annual Christmas Shopping Extravaganza!

Now if only I could figure out what I am going to bring to eat  for all of the family gatherings.  Now I know that both sets of parents (mine and Preacher Man's) would both tell us  not to bring anything, but I just feel like I have to since we're married and all.  Okay, maybe that's a lame excuse.  The real reason is I like to cook and I like taking food places.  It brings me joy.  Great, great, joy!  :)

The only problem I'm having right now is deciding on what I am going to bring!  Here are some options that I'm debating on.  Let me know what you think dear family!  :)

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars found  here.  (I actually make mine into bars)

Pumpkin Fluff found here.  (I don't add in a can of pumpkin...I add in pumpkin spice to substitute and maybe a little cream cheese and powdered sugar...ooopppsss...maybe it's not my recipe, but you get the drift.)  I would even be up for the challenge to make homemade ginersnap cookies!

The yummiest rolls ever found here.

Really mean, delicious creamed corn found here.  A lot of times I don't think a meal is complete without corn.  I really like corn.  Especially creamed corn.

I also thought about orange velvet cupcakes...but cupcakes aren't too Thanksgiving-ish in my opinion.
But these are too cute here.  Who doesn't love a Turkey Cupcake?

I'm also thinking about making something with apple.
Maybe apple rings?!  They are melt in your mouth delish.  And with a small scoop of ice cream on top they might send you to the moon.  Seriously.  They are my Mom's recipe and it's glorious!  I might have just talked myself into making those.  BUT I also saw another recipe rings (like onion rings) found here.  They look quite delicious too!

I also thought about making Paula Deen's Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie, but I think I'm going to beg my Mom to make that for me.  :)  Mom, if you're reading this, here's my plea for it!

So family, I need your guidance.  What are you craving?  What shall I bring to Thanksgiving?  You know I'm not going to come empty handed so you might as well tell me.  I'm excited to hear what you want!  And you know I'm always up for a challenge if you there's something that you want me to try out!

Dreaming of Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Green Beans, Deviled Eggs, Broccoli Casserole, Rolls, and all of the other yumminess that comes along with Thanksgiving,

Gearing Up for Christmas...and Yes, I still remember Thanksgiving is coming! :)

I'm so ready to put up my Christmas tree and gear up for Christmas!!!

Here is my reasoning for needing to put it up this weekend:

Next weekend I want to have a nice, relaxing weekend because we're going to celebrate the 'ol birthday by going out on a date.  Reason #1.

The next weekend will be Thanksgiving.  Reason #2.

And then the next weekend will be the first weekend in December!  Can you believe it?!  That's why I think it's time to gear up for Christmas.  Reason #3.

Need I say anymore?

I think I talked Preacher Man into putting it up this weekend!!!  Whooo hooooo!

So I'm going to do a before and after post so you can see the makings of our little Christmas hopefully, wonderland in our house!

Here are the before pictures (please excuse the random stuff just laying around...we're human!)....

get excited about the after pictures to come...

Hopefully on Sunday!!!

Wish us luck!  Because I'm going to want to get out everything Christmas in the boxes and I think I might be encouraged that we don't need to put it all out.  We'll see what happens!  :)

Sooooooo excited,

Duke vs. FSU

It's no secret that my honey LOVES Florida State Football!

And when we found out they were playing Duke at Duke, this was a must thing to do that we put on our calendar!

So that's what we did.  We went to the Duke vs. FSU Football game back in October.  We had a bunch of fun seeing Preacher Man's favorite team play and being on my favorite basketball team's campus.  :)

It was a gorgeous day and we had a lot of fun!

Here's how our day went...

On our way out the door Preacher Man decided that it would be a good idea to put his FSU flag on our car.  When he pulled the flag out, I kinda gave him a look of "Are you really going to put that flag on our car?!"  And then he gave me the look back of "Oh yes I am putting this on our car."

Unfortunately the flag was broken.  :(
I shed a few tears over this tragedy.

This is the poor guy when he realized that it was broken...

I felt bad that it was broken because I know his love for FSU runs deep and he really wanted to display the flag on our car, but for the sake of our car I'm kinda glad it didn't work out.  It could have gotten a few more scratches or dings because we were in Blue Devil Country.  Get my drift?!  (Love you hubby!)  :)

Once we got to the stadium we got to go inside Cameron Indoor to get our tickets.
I felt like a kid on Christmas morning walking in there.  :)
Maybe one day I'll actually get to see the court in person!

We finally got our tickets and made the trek over to the football was maybe ten steps away from the basketball arena.

Would you just look at the guy below?!

He is SMILING and holding Duke tickets!!  This makes me smile.

But then I have to stop and smell the real roses that on that ticket it says FSU and that's the real reason he's smiling.  Not because he's a Duke fan.
Ahhhhhhh, but it sure is fun to dream.  :)

Did I mention that it was a gorgeous day for football?  Because it was!  Just look at the sky!

And here we are getting into the stadium...

I'd have to say that it was much, much different than a football game at Neyland Stadium.  MUCH.

Much quieter, much smaller, many more empty seats, small band, and no petros.  I love my petro at a UT football game, but over here in North Carolina country they don't know what petros are.  :(

But it was okay.  This was still such a fun experience without a petro.  :)

We were just thrilled to see a football game this season and none the less, Preacher Man's favorite team and on Duke's campus.

They started the football festivities with the Army Air Team parachuting in onto the field since it was Military Appreciation Day.

Do you see that plane?  It's not a bird!  It really is a plane!

And now do you see those white swirls?

and now the red swirls?

Those were the jumpers.  They jumped out and landed right on the football field.

It was definitely a neat thing to watch!

Next it was time for the teams to run out!

Now Power T, No Big D, they just run out.

Different strokes for different folks!  :)

And here's FSU...

And out they come!!!!

pause for a picture of me and my honey...

and here's hubby's team coming out...

Now we're in our seats...

which by the way were fantastic!  Thanks again to P.M.'s parentals!!

Here are the sky boxes for the stadium....

and the fun dance team!!!

I absolutely loved watching them!  They were a ball of fun to watch!  :)

Here's the jumbo-tron!  Ohhh yes!!  :)

and the other score board.  :)

and half of the stadium...

FSU must have done something stupid....

This is better...

"Gooooo Duke!" says Katie.
"Goooooo FSU!" says Jon.

He's a happy man!

Check out the band!

They played leap frog in their half time performance.  :)

Just check out these concessions would you?!

Who serves blooming onions at a football game?!  Duke does!!!!

How about some mini donuts or quesadillas for you to eat while watching your team play?

Pretty cool if you ask me!  :)

Guess what our food of choice was?

keep guessing.....

good 'ol cheese and chips!  And we even split a regular coke!

This was our halftime treat while we waited on the show to go on...

this is right before they started doing leap frog...

Unfortunately Duke wasn't playing so hot this day...

the fans were clearing out...

and these fans were going crazy...

I bet you can't guess who won?

That's right!  The Noles won!

Coach Cutcliffe lost to FSU.  :(

I like Coach C. because he coached at TN back in the day.  And believe it or not I met him one time when I worked at Bath & Body Works!  He was a super nice guy that was shopping for some kind of birthday present for someone with his grand's how our meeting went...

Katie:  (while ringing up his products)  Oh, I see your Tennessee ring.  That's nice.  I go there!  Did you graduate from there?
Coach C:  No I didn't.  I coach football there.
Katie (feeling like an idiot):  Oh that's awesome!  Very neat!
Coach C:  Yeah, thanks!
Katie (wanting to crawl under the counter):  Do you need your gift wrapped?
Coach C:  No, that's okay.  Thank you.

See, nice guy.  I just don't keep up with TN football like I should.  Oooppss.  :)

So there ya have it, I've met Coach C. before and now I've seen him coach his very own team!

Preacher Man and I  had a super fun time and we were so excited that we got the chance to go!

Maybe the next time we're on Duke campus we'll be watching a basketball game!  :)

Still dreaming of that day that happens,
The Preacher's Wife
